Setup guide

  1. Open Control Panel through Start menu or Windows search
  2. Go to Network and Internet category and then to Network and Sharing Center
  3. On the left side of the screen find Change adapter settings and click on it
  4. Select your active connection, right-click on it and choose Properties
  5. Find Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) in the list, select it and then click on Properties again
  6. Choose Use the following DNS server addresses and enter the IP addresses of the two DNS servers nearest to you. Any of:
    88.198.91.187
    95.216.181.228
    45.67.219.208
    185.213.26.187
  7. Press OK
  8. Back in the list, find Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)
  9. Choose Use the following DNS server addresses and enter the IP addresses of the two DNS servers nearest to you. Any of:
    2a01:4f8:1c0c:8233::1
    2a01:4f9:c01f:4::abcd
    2a04:bdc7:100:70::abcd
    2a0d:5600:33:3::abcd
    
  10. Press OK twice to close the settings and you’re done!
Private DNS (Android 9 Pie and higher) [Recommended]
DNS-over-TLS, all networks at once (including Cellular and Public Wi-Fi).
  1. Go to Settings → Network & internet → Advanced → Private DNS.
  2. Select the Private DNS provider hostname option.
  3. Enter any of the below servers (choose one nearest to you) and hit Save:
    dot.centraleu.pi-dns.com
    dot.northeu.pi-dns.com
    dot.westus.pi-dns.com
    dot.eastus.pi-dns.com
 
IPv4
On a per-network basis (does not work for cellular).
  1. Go to Settings → Wi-Fi.
  2. Long-press the network you are connected to then tap Modify Network.
  3. On some devices, you may need to check the box for Advanced to see further settings. To adjust your DNS settings, you will need to switch the IP settings from DHCP to Static.
  4. Enter any of the following addressees for DNS 1 and DNS 2.
    88.198.91.187
    95.216.181.228
    45.67.219.208
    185.213.26.187
 
IPv6 (Only if you know IPv4 isn’t available)
On a per-network basis (does not work for cellular).
  1. Go to Settings → Wi-Fi.
  2. Long-press the network you are connected to then tap Modify Network.
  3. On some devices, you may need to check the box for Advanced to see further settings. To adjust your DNS settings, you will need to switch the IP settings from DHCP to Static.
  4. Enter any of the following addressees for DNS 1 and DNS 2.
    2a01:4f8:1c0c:8233::1

DNS-over-HTTPS
Available on iOS 14 or newer

Download one on the profiles below (select the server you want to use)

pi-dns-eastau.mobileconfig
pi-dns-eastas.mobileconfig

  1. Press “Allow” if asked to allow download
  2. In iOS, go to Settings -> General -> Device Management
  3. Press on the newly downloaded profile named “pi-dns.com DoH {Server Name}”
  4. Press “Install” in upper right corner
  5. Fill in your password and press “install” until complete
  6. Done! You’re now using encrypted DNS over HTTPS
IPv4
On a per-network basis.
  1. Open the Settings app, then go to Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap on the ⓘ icon on the right-hand side of the Wi-Fi network of your choice.
  3. In the DNS section, go to Configure DNS.
  4. Select Manual.
  5. In the DNS SERVERS list, remove all addresses (if any) then add any of the following servers:
    88.198.91.187
    95.216.181.228
    45.67.219.208
    185.213.26.187
  6. Tap Save.
 
IPv6 (Only if you know IPv4 isn’t available)
On a per-network basis.
  1. Open the Settings app, then go to Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap on the ⓘ icon on the right-hand side of the Wi-Fi network of your choice.
  3. In the DNS section, go to Configure DNS.
  4. Select Manual.
  5. In the DNS SERVERS list, remove all addresses (if any) then add any of the following servers:
    2a01:4f8:1c0c:8233::1
    2a01:4f9:c01f:4::abcd
    2a04:bdc7:100:70::abcd
    2a0d:5600:33:3::abcd
  6. Tap Save.
IPv4
On a per-network basis.
  1. Open System Preferences, then click on Network.
  2. Select the network you are connected to, then click on the Advanced button.
  3. Go to the DNS section.
  4. In the DNS Servers list, remove all addresses (if any) then add any of the following servers:
    88.198.91.187
    95.216.181.228
    45.67.219.208
    185.213.26.187
  5. Click OK then click Apply.
 
IPv6 (Only if you know IPv4 isn’t available)
On a per-network basis.
  1. Open System Preferences, then click on Network.
  2. Select the network you are connected to, then click on the Advanced button.
  3. Go to the DNS section.
  4. In the DNS Servers list, remove all addresses (if any) then add any of the following servers:
    2a01:4f8:1c0c:8233::1
    2a01:4f9:c01f:4::abcd
    2a04:bdc7:100:70::abcd
    2a0d:5600:33:3::abcd
  5. Click OK then click Apply.
DNS-over-HTTPS
Only supported on Windows, macOS and Linux.
  1. Open Preferences.
  2. Scroll down to the Network Settings section and click on Settings.
  3. Scroll down and check Enable DNS over HTTPS.
  4. Select Custom, enter one of the servers below (select closest):
    https://doh.centraleu.pi-dns.com/dns-query
    https://doh.northeu.pi-dns.com/dns-query
    https://doh.westus.pi-dns.com/dns-query
    https://doh.eastus.pi-dns.com/dns-query
    
  5. Click OK.
  6. Enter “about:config” in the address bar (and click on I Accept the risk! if asked).
  7. Set network.trr.bootstrapAddress to the corresponding IP (to the server selected in step 4):
    88.198.91.187 (if selected centraleu)
    95.216.181.228 (if selected northeu)
    45.67.219.208 (if selected westus)
    185.213.26.187 (if selected eastus)
    
  8. Set network.trr.mode to 3.
